Echoing through generations, the myths of American popular culture have undergone many iterations—but never quite as lavish than in the hands of Andy Warhol. In his 1981 portfolio of ten screen printed characters—Mickey Mouse, Superman, Santa Claus, Dracula, Uncle Sam, the Wicked Witch of the West, among others—Warhol reimagined the iconic figures in glamorous, shimmering prints inlaid with diamond dust (which he sprinkled on the works before they dried).
