Booker T. Washington autograph dated in his hand “Nov. 7, 1910 Tuskegee,” in black fountain pen. An early black activist, Washington was the dominant leader in the African American community during the latter part of the 19th and early 20th century who founded the Tuskegee Institute, an historically black college in 1881 in Tuskegee, Alabama. An advisor to several US Presidents, Washington was the leading voice of the former slaves and their descendants. 4 X 2.25. Good condition with pinholes in the upper left and a center vertical crease.
