Elvis Presley owned and worn 14kt/18kt gold "Elvis 69" engraved watch. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Elvis Presley. Irwin worked with Elvis and his manager Colonel Tom Parker several times in the 1970's. After Elvis passed away the Colonel gifted Pate some articles that belonged to Elvis and Pate paid the Colonel "a great deal of money" in the early 1980's for this watch. According to the Colonel it has been gifted to Elvis in 1969 by a friend/employee. Elvis wore it several times before he stopped wearing it in the 1970's due to his size. After Pate purchased the watch from the Colonel, it remained in the Pate collection for many years - up to the time of this auction. Very good condition. Comes with a letter of provenance from Pate's wife, Clarine Pate, on Pate Booking Agency letterhead and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
