This lot is a piece of American history, as James Monroe — 5th President of the United States of America — penned this letter to John Quincy Adams using black dip pen ink. Dated May 22, 1816, this letter is the original communication between the 5th and 6th Presidents and is over 200 years old. It also has the written endorsement of Adams on verso. This lot includes a transcription of the letter, which reads as an introduction of a mutual friend “Mr. Tucker” from Monroe to Adams. Good condition. Both the letter and the transcription measure 8” x 10”. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Letter of Authenticity.
