This fabulous Ivy Supersonic custom Louis Vuitton feathered hat has been worn by Lil’ Kim, Alice Cooper, Snoop Dogg and more! A fabulous hat with a celebrity-filled history! In 1999 famed designer Ivy Supersonic met the publicist for Louis Vuitton who gave her some LV fabric to use in her feathered hats she was creating for the LV Classic Car Show at Rockefeller Center in September 24, 1999. The intention was for Lil’ Kim to wear the hat at the show, but she didn’t make it. Instead, Ivy Supersonic took the hat to Lil’ Kim’s photo shoot at Industria for the cover of Out Magazine, and Lil’ Kim can be seen wearing the hat in photographs from the shoot that day. Ivy brought her own photographer who got his own shot of Kim wearing the hat that appeared in the Gotham Section of New York Magazine, October 18, 1999. The hat went out to have a very storied future as it was worn by Alice Cooper live in concert in New Jersey on October 1, 1999 and by Snoop Dogg on the box cover of his movie The Eastsidaz (Ivy met Snoop’s stylist on the set of the movie and the stylist rented the hat from her. Fashion Wire Daily ran a piece showing Snoop wearing the hat as well as the NY Daily News, and Talk Magazine. There is a shot in Enrique Iglesias’s music video “Be With You” where he is seen quickly with a girl wearing the hat. Quentin Tarantino wore the hat at Hugh Hefner's 1999 Halloween Party at the Playboy mansion. Kelly Ripa wore the hat when she dressed up as Pamela Anderson for the memorable Live With Regis and Kelly Halloween episode in 2003. Ivy and the hat have made the rounds, with Ivy wearing the hat in the National Enquirer in April 2000 in a piece featuring Monica Lewinsky, in The News of The World and Daily Star in a piece that also featured Liam Gallagher in May 2000, Alice Cooper in Penthouse Magazine in May 2000, with Carmen Electra in the NY Daily News in June 23, 2000, with Snoop Dogg in Time Magazine, March 12, 2001, with Wyclef Jean in 2001 Daily News and 2002 Rolling Stone Magazine. The hat also appears in Instagram photos from the designer. Very good condition. Comes with a letter of provenance from Ivy Supersonic and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
