This "John Carter And The Martian Lion" original painting by famed artist Marcus Boas measures 36 24 and is comprised of oil paint on board. Boas has signed and dated the painting on the bottom. Edgar Rice Burroughs created the character John Carter of Mars before he created Tarzan of the Apes, over 100 years ago in the first book A Princess of Mars. After many attempts at turning it into film, the story finally will appear on movie screens this month! Considered among the very best in fantasy illustration, Marcus has worked for a wide range of magazines from the horror favorite Castle of Frankenstein to the ever-popular Heavy Metal. He's also done movie posters and paperback covers, and even produced his own magazine, "Heroic Fantasy". This lot is accompanied by a "Heroic Fantasy" catalog that features this painting that has been signed and numbered by the artist, as well as a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
