Martin Luther King, Jr. has signed and written a lengthy postscript on this incredibly historical March 28, 1961 two-page typed letter to Sammy Davis, Jr., at The Sands in Las Vegas, thanking him for his inspirational leadership in the Freedom Movement. The letter was typed on King's personal Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia letterhead, and among other things, King states, "Who can measure the impact, the inspirational effect, upon the millions of Negroes who have learned through thousands of grapevines (sic) that one of heir idols, Sammy Davis, Jr., was responsible for rallying some of the greatest stars of Hollywood to come forward and publicly support the great cause of Negro freedom? On campuses and in communities throughout the south they are still talking about it and will continue to, I assure you, for many a long month to come." King signed the letter "Martin" on the second page, adding the following postscript below, "P.S. I'm sorry I had to leave Miami before I planned and therefore didn't get to write the letter to Frank Sinatra. If you will send me his address I will write him immediately." Signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint pen. Two pages, each measures 8.5 x 11. Very good condition. This very important historical letter is accompanied by a PSA/DNA Authentication Services Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
