From the Farley Granger Collection. This beautiful display for the Marx Brothers production of "Animal Crackers" on Broadway features a contract extension letter signed by them, two Western Telegram between producer Sam Harris, Groucho and Chico, a black and white publicity photo and an original program from the 44th Street Theatre where the show played from October 23, 1928 to April 6, 1929. The contract is a letter signed by Sam Harris on his Music Box Theatre letterhead telling the Mark Brothers he is exercising his option covering their services for the 1929-1930 season as provided in their original contract. The letter has been signed by the Marx Brothers in the following order: Leo Marx (Chico), Herbert Marx (Zeppo), Arthur Marx (Harpo) and Julius Marx (Groucho). All have signed in fountain pen (as well as Sam Harris). This signed contract letter measures approximately 8 x 7. Matted and framed to measure 13.5 x 34.5. As we know from movie history, the Marx Brothers did not revive the show in the 1929-30 Broadway season, instead opting to make the film which was released on August 23, 1930. Very good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
