Rutherford B. Hayes has signed this cabinet card in steel tip fountain pen. Hayes, an American politician and attorney who served as the 19th President of the United States was a lawyer and staunch abolitionist, who had defended refugee slaves in court proceedings during the antebellum years. He negotiated the political agreement to end federal support of Reconstruction. Measures 4.25 X 6.5. The card is thin, apparently having been peeled from a thicker card stock. As a result the card is in fair condition with breaks in the paper about his signature with tape repair on verso. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
