A rare, early concert poster for The Doors when they performed on December 8, 1967 at the R.P.I. Field House (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) in Troy, New York . The show was the opening event of the college’s “Frosh Fling Weekend” and was sponsored by the fraternity Tau Epsilon Phi. The concert also happened to be Jim Morrison's 24th birthday! This rare, original poster is extremely valuable and would be the star in any serious Doors collector’s archive. The poster, printed on heavy stock paper and dating from the December 8th, 1967 concert, is the only surviving example known to us. The poster measures approximately 13.75 x 21.75 and has been professionally matted and framed to measure approximately 24 x 31.5. The poster stands alone without being affixed to anything (no glue, tape, etc). The poster is in very good condition but does have some wear including a .5" tear at the top of the poster, some light creasing and some white streaks that appears due to toning of the poster, and staple marks. The poster still displays beautifully and it is remarkable that such a treasure survived because most posters back then were discarded after the event. Comes with a letter from Memorabilia Expert and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
