Future President William H. Harrison handwritten signed note using quill pen dated July 10, 1793 in which instructs “Head Quarters…The Company will give to an Ottawa Chief one quart of whiskey.” Signed “Wm H Harrison, a d c,” (representing aid de camp). Born in Virginia to Founding Father Benjamin Harrison V, Harrison was the last president born as a British subject in the Thirteen Colonies before the Declaration of Independence in 1776. This historic note was written early in his military career during which he participated in the American victory in the Battle of Fallen Timbers to help end the Northwest Indian War after which he began his political career first being appointed the Secretary of the Northwest Territory. Harrison served the shortest term as President, dying in Office 31 days into his term after being elected as the 9th President of the United States. Harrison was also the paternal grandfather of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States. Handwritten note measures 3 X 7.5, framed with an engraved picture. Framed 11.5 X 16.
