This is Bob Dylan's complete handwritten draft of the mythological song "California Brown Eyed Baby." Set to the tune of "Columbus Stockade," the song was written by Dylan in I961. It is the first complete original song known to exist handwritten written by him after he came to New York City. There is a rough draft which is in the Morgan Library and this final one which was given to Eve McKenzie. Dylan lived at that time with the McKenzie's and their son Peter in Greenwich Village. Bob performed it regularly in many of his early shows. These lyrics come from the personal collection of Peter McKenzie. Written in pencil on a small sheet measuring approximately 4 x 4.5. Very good condition, the writing is clear and legible. the paper shows age in color and has very slight tearing at the right edge and right corner top, and a very tiny tear at the left side bottom at the edge. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
