This is an original 8.5" x 11" black and white "wanted" poster for the arrest of Mexico's famed "bandit," Francisco "Pancho" Villa. Dated March 9, 1916, this poster picturing Pancho Villa proclaims a $5,000 reward for his arrest. Villa began his life as a thief at the age of 16. Over the years he became one of the most important military leaders during the Mexican Revolution and a folk hero to many. He successfully avoided two attempts for his capture made by the American troops following an attack made against Americans in New Mexico. Villa ultimately surrendered to the Mexican government in 1920 to live in exile, but was later assassinated in 1923. The poster has a few light stains and posting marks. Overall very good condition. Estimate: $3,500 - $4,000.
