This is the World Boxing Hall of Fame induction medal that once belonged to the late, legendary former World Lightweight Champion Isiah "Ike" Williams; awarded him upon his 1983 induction into the World Boxing Hall of Fame. The beautiful 2.25 inch diameter gold tone metal medallion bears the emblem for the World Boxing Hall of Fame on the one side and is engraved with the name "Ike Williams, Lightweight Champion" on the obverse side appearing with the printed creed, "Till the future dares forget the past, their fate and fame shall be an echo and a light unto eternity, Everett L. Sanders." The medal hangs from a 30 inch red, white and blue ribbon. Accompanying Williams induction medal is the induction program titled "Banquet of Champions" honoring the greatest boxers in history at their induction in the world shrine of boxing, held October 1, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. The 56 page program itself provides a wealth of information about the Hall, and pays tribute to the inductees and boxing legends. Joining Williams with their induction into the Hall at the same time were John L. Sullivan, Carlos Monzon, Ezzard Charles, "Jersey Joe" Walcott, Lew Jenkins and Rocky Graziano. Williams held the World Lightweight Championship title from 1945-1951 and is remembered as one of the hardest punchers in his weight class. Williams had previously been inducted into The Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1978 and in 1948 was named Fighter of the Year by Ring Magazine and was included in their list of the 100 greatest punchers of all-time. In 1990, a few years before his death, Williams was also inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
