Presented here is a game used Indianapolis Colts helmet worn by Peyton Manning during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Manning was selected first overall by the Colts in the 1998 NFL Draft and served as their starting quarterback from 1998 to 2010. Manning had a solid rookie season, completing 326 passes on 575 attempts for a completion rating of 56.7% and threw for 3,739 yards and 26 touchdowns with 28 interceptions while making the NFL All-Rookie First Team. 1999 would see Manning lead the Colts from a record of 3-13 to 13-3, leading the Colts to the Divisional Round of the playoffs and finished the season with 4,135 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. This presented Riddell VSR-4 Colts helmet worn by Manning during his rookie and second season features a single blue strip down the center with the blue Colt horseshoe on both sides. The VSR-4 model is the correct model worn by Manning during the late 1990s. The size large helmet features a blue face mask. The number “18” is written in black ink by an unknown hand on the inside left earhole and printed inside the right earhole. The helmet shell shows signs of heavy wear with scratches and marks all around the surface that indicate heavy game use. The interior padding system exhibits excellent sweat wear. The helmet was fitted with a new face mask, a common practice for multiple season helmets and shows evidence by displaying less wear.
