Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton Handwritten and Signed Letter.
Elizabeth Taylor has handwritten and this letter to friends on Hotel Maria Isabel (Mexico City) stationery, with Richard Burton adding his owned handwritten and signed letter on the verso. The letters were written when the couple was in Mexico (1963-64) for the film shoot of Burton's film "Night of the Iguana." The couple married during the filming of this movie on March 15, 1964. Taylor's letter is bubbly and sweet, and has great content, writing, "Richard's film, so far, is going marvelously - but I am still keeping my fingers & eyes cross. There is a lot of talent (and temperament ) around." Indeed there would have been a lot of drama on the set with a cast that included Burton, Ava Gardner and Deborah Kerr, and direction by the mighty John Huston. Add in Taylor (whose relationship with Burton was hot-hot-hot fodder in Hollywood) and a film based on Tennessee William's intensely emotional play, all in the setting of Mexico!
Richard has handwritten and signed a letter on the verso, to the same friends, a drier in tone letter, warning them to "Take no notice of 'talent;" is my motto..." Both have signed their first names "God Bless, Elizabeth" and "Richard." Handwritten in black ink.
Dimensions: 7 in x 10.5 in. approximately.
Condition: Overall very good condition, the letter has two horizontal creases where it was folded to fit into an envelope, and a stain in the middle of the hotel's letterhead, that bleeds to the verso. A couple of small, light stains as well on the verso, none that affect Burton's handwriting and signature.
