George Harrison Incredibly Rare Personally Owned Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" Given to Him by EMI.
This Beatles "A Hard Day's Night" album was personally owned by George Harrison, and it was given to him directly from EMI Records. George had the album in his possession for years before gifting it to his friend tour manager Robbie Cain.
The Beatles recorded "A Hard Day's Night" at the EMI recording studios in Paris, in 1964, shortly after the release of "With the Beatles" (1963). This copy that George owned was the Parlophone version, released on July 10, 1964m with side one containing songs from the soundtrack to their film of the same name. The American version of the album was released two weeks earlier, on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records, with a different track listing that included selections from George Martin's film score. The band's third studio album, rhe album includes the song "A Hard Day's Night," with its distinctive opening chord,[and "Can't Buy Me Love,"both transatlantic number-one singles for the band. Several of the songs feature George Harrison playing a Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar, a sound that was influential on the Byrds and other groups in the emerging folk rock and jangle pop genres.
Provenance: This incredibly rare album, owned personally owned by George Harrison, and given to him directly by EMI, is accompanied by a detailed letter from tour manager Robbie Cain who George gave the record to. Cain had a long history with George Harrison, as Cain spent his life working for bands starting in 1968 at the Beatles Apple Records in London, working with various bands. He became close to George over the years, and also worked with Paul McCartney and Wings in the 1970s. According to Cain, George was very generous and often gave him things like this over the years.
