Janis Joplin's owned and worn amber toned beaded necklace. Approximately 27" in length, each bead measures a little under a half inch each. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Janis Joplin. When traveling on concert tours Irwin often would obtain many of these articles from tour crew members and venue staff. Irwin obtained this amber colored beaded necklace from a venue employee who got to meet Janis and spend some time with her after one of her concerts. She complimented Janis on the necklace and Janis took it off and gave it to her. The necklace has been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Very good condition. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and this necklace comes with a letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
