These are Elvis Presley's worn denim jacket, pants and yellow shirt from the 1968 MGM movie "Stay Away Joe." Elvis wore this ensemble predominantly throughout the film portraying American Indian "Joe Lightcloud." The jacket has been intentionally distressed for the film. The jacket bears an MGM label with Elvis' name handwritten in black ink and the production number of the film and Elvis' size on the appropriate lines. Also present is an MGM laundry tag and the interior of the jacket is stamped "M-G-M." The jeans are labeled with an MGM Culver city studios tag with "E. Presley" handwritten with a production number of "1864" handwritten with a "#" written and a waist size of 32 and inseam of 31 inches. The jeans also have an orange MGM dry cleaning tag attached. Accompanied by the yellow western shirt that Elvis wore with the ensemble throughout the film. The MGM Culver City label on the shirt is marked with Elvis' name and size on it. With three color photographs of Elvis wearing the jacket in the film and photographs of Elvis wearing the jacket on the set in Sedona, Arizona as well. With letter from close friend Charlie Hodge who was an extra in the film and can be seen in several scenes. An interesting aside: during the fight scene at the party, Elvis goes outside to tell the band to play something slow. He and his friend Charlie Hodge start cracking up during Elvis' line. Charlie later said that the reason for the laughter was that it was cold outside and Elvis' nose was running. This is the type of fun Elvis and the guys would have on the set when making films to relieve the boredom.
