Renowned Civil War General, William Tecumseh Sherman, has signed and inscribed “W. T. Sherman, General, 1890,” in black fountain pen on this 3.75 X 2 signature cut framed with a picture of Sherman. Among the most famous campaigns during the Civil War was Sherman's destructive campaign to conquer Atlanta, Georgia and his subsequent March to the Sea capturing Savannah en route to the Carolina's that led to the Confederate surrender of General Joe Johnston to Sherman on April 17, 1865 at Raleigh, North Carolina. After the war following Grant's election to President, Sherman was promoted to the grade of full General and given Command of the entire U.S. Army which he held until his retirement from service in 1883.
