A rare poster advertising The Beatles appearance on August 28 and 29, 1964 at the Forest Hills Music Festival in New York. The only other poster we know of dating from the Beatles ’64 summer tour of North America is one announcing the group's September 2nd appearance at Philadelphia's Convention Hall; a poster void of ticket outlet and price information. The Beatles' return to New York City, where they made their historic Ed Sullivan Show appearances the previous February, was a rousing triumph as they played a pair of sold-out concerts at the 16,000 seat Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. In addition to Beatles collectors, this extraordinary cardboard rarity will garner additional interest from Bob Dylan collectors since he appeared with Joan Baez during her August 8th Forest Hills appearance. Also featured in the poster are Barbara Streisand (then appearing on Broadway in “Funny Girl”), Woody Allen, Harry Belafonte and more. The 14" x 22" cardboard poster, printed by Murray Posters of NYC, exhibits some typical age toning, some light scuffs, corner wear and some water spotting to the upper left corner area.
Estimate: $15,000-$18,000
