The signatures of twenty players of the World Champion 1969 New York Mets are dispersed among these three cachet envelopes postmarked October 11, 1969 to celebrate baseball’s Centennial anniversary and the beginning of the 1969 World Series played between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets. Signers include Nolan Ryan who during his lengthy Hall of fame career made his only World Series appearance in the 1969 Series. Other members of the Miracle Mets signed are Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, Ron Swoboda, Ed Kranepool, Tommie Agee, Cleon Jones, Wayne Garrett, Don Clendenon, Gary Gentry, Al Weiss, Tug McGraw, Rod Gaspar, Bud Harrelson, Art Shamsky, Jerry Grote, Cal Koonce, Ed Charles, Don Caldwell, and Jim McAndrew. Signed using various pens and marker, each of the three envelopes are posted with the professional baseball stamp, with different postmarks – New York City, Baltimore, and Cooperstown NY, the home of Baseball’s Hall of Fame. The Mets defeated the more favored Baltimore Orioles in 5 Games to earn the nickname “Miracle Mets” and their first World Championship in their young franchise history.
