"Song To Woody" is one of the most historically important songs Bob Dylan has ever written. He wrote it for his then idol Woody Guthrie and it was the first original song he recorded. The song appears on his first album “Bob Dylan,” released in early 1962. Its value cannot be overestimated. Hand-dated by Dylan “August 1961,” Dylan wrote out these three verses of “Song To Woody” with some slight word variations from the original first and later recorded lyrics. Although these particular three verses with slight variations were tucked away and not recorded, they are a part of that moment when Dylan first put his historic announcement to the world as a writer on record. They are outstanding and original as the great man himself. The page measures approximately 4.5 x 7.5 and comes from a book of poetry Dylan was reading at the time (the page, shown here with the book, is detached from the book). The book is included. Good condition.
