For over four decades he promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers. Irwin knew Elvis Presley and was good friends with his manager Colonel Tom Parker. Irwin worked with Elvis and the Colonel several times over the years before Elvis passed away. Irwin obtained this Elvis Presley owned and used clock radio from the Colonel in the early 1980's. Elvis used the clock radio in the 1970's when he was on tour - he would bring it with him for personal use in his hotel. The Colonel gifted Irwin some articles that belonged to Elvis after Irwin told him that he was a collector, and this clock radio is one of those items. The clock radio has been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the clock radio comes with a letter of provenance from Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
