Roger Maris (New York Yankees) looks determined in this black and white 10 x 8 original wire photograph as he "…brandishes the war club he has hit 56 home runs to threaten Babe Ruth's record…." (reference from the attached September 14, 1961 news credit on the verso). Maris finished the season setting a new single season home run record hitting 61 home runs. Good condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
