Astronaut, aviator, engineer and politician – John Glenn Jr. has signed this first day cover postmarked Cape Canaveral with Project Mercury postage on February 20, 1962 –on the date Glenn was launched into orbit to become the first American to orbit Earth. The 6.5 X 3.75 envelope is humorously illustrated picturing Caroline Kennedy meeting Glenn on the grounds of the White House standing near his capsule asking, “Mr. Glenn, where’s the Monkey?” Signed in black ballpoint pen. Very good condition. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
