Queen front man Freddie Mercury's stage worn Brut light blue, short-sleeved mesh shirt, extra long, size Large (42-44), yellow Adidas pants with brown stripes (size not indicated on label, probably a medium) and red and white wrist sweatbands. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Freddie Mercury. Irwin knew Freddie and worked with him on a few occasions and promoted a few Queen concerts. During a meeting in Montreal Freddie gave Irwin some items from his collection that he no longer used, including these red and white wristbands that measure approximately 2.25" in width each. When traveling on concert tours Irwin often would obtain items worn by the artists from tour crew members and venue staff. Irwin obtained Freddie's blue mesh shirt and his Adidas pants from a young male employee of the venue of one of Queen's concerts. the employee spent some time with Freddie after the concert and he came into possession of the shirt. Irwin traded the employee tickets for another concert in exchange for the shirt. Overall good condition, the pants show some wear, and the blue shirt has some light staining as all three pieces may have been worn by Freddie both on stage and off-stage. These pieces have been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the shirt, the pants and the wrist sweatbands each come with their own letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead (three letters). Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
