Originating from a private uniform collection is this scarce dugout jacket attributed to legendary ball player and manager Sadaharu Oh during his tenure playing with and managing the Yomiuri Giants in Japan. The knit jacket with a zipper front is adorned with his name and uniform number in sewn on twill lettering on back, “OH,” and “1.” On the right sleeve, an embroidered patch bearing the Japanese Flag is sewn on and the left sleeve is embroidered with the manufacturers symbol for “Mizuno.” “GIANTS” is embroidered across the left chest on front above his sewn on twill uniform number “1”. The stretch knot waist and collar are color accented with orange and black. Manufacturer and size tags are sewn on the inside collar, representing “World Win, Selected Products For The Pros, Mizuno,” and flag size tag which reads, “102-7, JASPOXO.” An Mizuno instructional care tag reading in Japanese is sewn onto an inside seam near the left bottom. While efforts to photo id this or similar jackets have been unsuccessful, some uniform experts whose opinions have been sought, suggest that this jacket may have been used during an international baseball tour event. Oh debuted for the Yomiuri Giants in 1959 and last played for them in 1980. As a player, Oh was a 15 time home run champion, five time batting champion, twice won the batting triple crown, and holds the all-time world career home run record (868). From 1984 to 1988 Oh managed the Giants and in 2006 was the manager of the Japanese national team in the inaugural World Baseball Classic when Japan defeated Cuba to win the Championship. Make this your home run acquisition from the home run king. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
