This was the Boogie Bodies guitar that was the precursor to the infamous Frankenstrat guitar. This guitar was originally a test-body guitar Lynn Ellsworth made to show to various clients. Van Halen showed up to his store in 1977 to test out guitars, and when he saw this Boogie Bodies guitar, he fell in love. He played this guitar at the store and asked Lynn “Where can I get one”. Van Halen tasked Lynn Ellsworth and Wayne Charvel to find similar parts for Van Halen to buy, and let Eddie hold on to this guitar until they got him the parts, which would be later used to create the Frankenstrat guitar. The guitar is circa 1976 and a prototype guitar. The guitar has the words “Tonebastard” written on the headstock, which could have been the nickname Van Halen gave it. An amazing piece of Van Halen history. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Lynn Ellsworth and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
