Legendary guitar player Jimi Hendrix wore this Moroccan vest circa 1960s. From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Hendrix. Irwin knew Hendrix and worked with him on a few occasions while working with James Brown. Irwin was the one who started James Brown career, and because of this they had a mutual friend of Hendrix, who gave him several items throughout their friendship. Overall good condition with obvious wear throughout the vest. These pieces have been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the vest comes with a letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
