An extremely rare official copy of Prince's 1987 'Black Album' which was pulled from sale by Prince in late 1987. Only a handful of pressings of the original Black Album have ever been found and it has become one of the rarest albums in history. This is the only proof album sleeve in existence and no other proof album artwork has ever been discovered. The sleeve bears the official 1987 serial number of 9 25677-1. It also comes with the only official UK promo cassette in existence dated 18/11/1987 which is a few weeks before Prince ordered all copies to be destroyed and the planned album release cancelled. This particular copy came from the head buyer of a large UK based music retail chain and was given to him in November 1987 directly from the record label. It was the job of this buyer to meet with record label executives who would leave him a copy of the proof album artwork and a promo cassette. The reason for this would be for him to make a buying decision on what to order and how many for the stores. It has since lay undiscovered in storage for over 30 years. Comes with a Letter of Provenance and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
