Otis Williams of the ground breaking Motown group The Temptations signed this Apollo Theater program twice using a black ballpoint pen. The autograph comes with the inscription “Always Love,” and he also write the group name “Temptations” twice on the cover of the program as well. Williams was one of the “Classic 5” members of the Temptations. This was the lineup that produced the group’s greatest hits and saw their rise to fame. The Apollo Theater is located on 125th St. between Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem, Manhattan. It is a designated New York City Landmark, and is considered one of the most famous venues in the city for hosting countless iconic performances.
The Temptations were the first Motown group to win a Grammy. Also, Williams along with five other group members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the group also has three songs in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
