Chic Young Blondie Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-12-1931 (1931 King Features Syndicate, Great Britain rights reserved) from the strip’s first full year of syndication. having to do with the lengthy courtship of Blondie and Dagwood and their much discussed plans to marry, titled in blue crayon on verso “No Place for Him!.” Illustrated on this oversize panel of Bristol board (198.5 X 5.25) in black ink with blue shading this strip personifies the early storyline of Dagwood’s parents refusing to consent to marry below their family’s social class headed by Dagwood’s millionaire father. It wasn’t until Dagwood went on a hunger strike and was disinherited that they would marry in February 1933. In the decade following beginning the late 1930’s Blondie’s popularity led to a number of “Blondie” films and a popular radio program. Chic Young wrote and drew Blondie until his death in 1973 after which creative control passed to his son. Blondie has appeared in more than 2,000 newspapers, in more than 45 countries and translated into approximately 35 languages. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
