Polar explorer and Medal of Honor recipient Admiral Richard E. Byrd, proclaiming to be the first to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole by air has signed this letter typed on his stationary, dated August 14, 1948 in which he writes the Director of Lederly Laboratories (Amerucan Cyanamid Company) stating that “…I will have the pleasure of meeting you and will get a chance to go through your laboratories.” Interestingly he also writes, “In the strictest confidence, I expect to fly from here to Little America and do much exploring by plane, much more than ever before.” Signed “R. E. Byrd,” in black fountain pen. Excellent condition. 8.375 X 11. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Certificate of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
