First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt has signed this letter typed on White House stationary dated June 11, 1943 in which she mentions FDR’s dog Fala (Falla), responding to an inquiry “…There have been so many things written about Falla and there is also a movie and I do not think there is anything I could add to the story of Falla and the Princesses.” Fala was a Scottish Terrier gifted to FDR by his cousin in 1940 and had learned to do many tricks at the White House and when accompanying the Roosevelt’s. Often the subject of the media and the Roosevelt’s, Fala was portrayed both in books and the movies, including the film possibly referenced in Eleanor’s letter, which in 1943 was released as a romantic comedy “Princess O’Rourke.” 6 X 9.25 letter is accompanied by its original mailing envelope. Very good condition. Guaranteed to pass James Spence Authentication (JSA) and comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
