From the historic Apollo 13 lunar landing mission which was aborted due to an oxygen tank explosion aboard the Odyssey's Service Module, these are two small sections of the actual pressure-sensitive Kapton polyimide film that was part of the Command Module's thermal protection system that was designed to protect the spaceship upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. The material worked - saving the Module and the Astronauts within, James A. Lovell, Jr., Fred W. Haise and John L. Swigert, Jr. - one of the most dramatic splashdowns in NASA history - watched my viewers all over the world. These sections measure approximately .75 and .25 inches each. The gold and silver colored foil-like material can be clearly seen on the Module after it had landed in the ocean. The material was removed from he spacecraft after it had landed. Accompanied by a Certificate from Sandy Clarkson of The Right Stuff, Inc. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
