An incredibly rare fully signed Led Zeppelin concert poster for the group’s performance at the Town Hall, Birmingham which took place on January 7th 1970. The poster has been beautifully signed by each member of the group in ballpoint pen. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have signed in dark blue ballpoint pen, Robert Plant and John Bonham have signed in green ballpoint pen. As both Plant and Bonham both hailed from the Midlands the concert was dubbed a homecoming performance, the concert was also the opening night of Zeppelin 1970 UK tour. They played a massive two and a half hour set at the venue without a break. The poster comes with a letter from the original recipient that reads ‘I was 16 years of age and still at school when I stood in the lower part of Birmingham Town Hall where the band would exit on January 7th 1970 hoping to get my poster signed. I was with a friend, now totally lost track of, who also hoped to get his signed. The band emerged singly, and all happily signed my poster, something I believe they were later reluctant to do as they became more famous. My poster was exhibited on the wall of the sixth form common room at my school for the rest of that year, amazingly not stolen, defaced, or torn down by staff. As I left school, I remember folding the poster in two and placing it inside my Led Zeppelin II album which I subsequently lent to a schoolfriend Philip O’Dwyer and promptly forgot all about it for the next 30 years. I married and had two sons, the eldest of which Daniel was very into music from an early age, buying music and attending gigs and as well as contemporary music got interested in bands from the seventies especially Led Zeppelin. I then told him the signed poster story around 2000, I was still in touch with my old schoolfriend Philip and when I called him, amazingly, he said the album was in his loft and he hadn’t touched it so the poster was possibly still there. It arrived by recorded delivery post and I arranged to have it framed for my son’s 21st birthday. It was screwed to the wall of his bedroom at his parental home and has up until now screwed to the wall of all three of his own houses.’. Very few autographed Zeppelin posters are known to exist. The poster measures 51cm x 76cm (20 inches x 30 inches). Robert Plant’s autograph has somewhat faded. The poster has been folded and laid flat, tape stains in various places, bottom left and top right corners are missing, pin holes in top left and bottom right corners, staining in various places. The condition is very good minus. Comes with a Tracks UK Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
