This is the actual 65" x 41" original wall artwork created by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s road manager Dean Kilpatrick which was used in the gatefold for the band’s album “Gold & Platinum”. Dean died in the tragic September 1977 plane crash along with several other members of the group. Dean made the drawings on the backroom wall of the Skynyrd recording studio that was located at 202 Riverside Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida. The wall is comprised of a fiberboard/drywall material that has never been retouched since it was first found 30 years ago. It appears that drumsticks were used to stab the drawing in several places, such as where Billy Powell, Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington are pictured, and a fist looks to have been put through the body of Alan Collins. The land and building where the studio sat were sold and demolished to make way for the Jacksonville-Riverside/Brooklyn area revitalization, and the wall has been through a lot. It was found in several pieces, and subsequently preserved by being re-pieced together and framed. Some of the small pieces of the picture could not be recovered, but the majority of the image is still intact. Comes with a letter of provenance and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
