A pair of stage-used speakers from the band's formative days
Two Selmer speakers (H: 1,276 mm, W: 336mm, D: 191 mm). Used by Pink Floyd on stage from 1966-1968; wear commensurate with stage use including chips, tears, and scratches, number scratched out.
These speakers were heavily used by Pink Floyd from 1966-1968, until they were blown out. They are widely photographed on stage and in use, visible in images of their memorable performance at The Roundhouse opening concert All Night Rave on 15 October 1966.
The speakers have expectational provenance, dating back to Pink Floyd's earliest days as a group of unknowns to their eventual stardom. The present owner purchased one speaker from Iain Owen Moore, a close friend and occasional roadie of Pink Floyd, who acquired them directly from David Gilmour in 1968 as a gift for his work with Pink Floyd. Moore is credited with coining the phrase "Ummagumma," which Pink Floyd would use for the title of their fourth album in 1969. The other speaker was acquired from Alan Styles, another Pink Floyd roadie, in 1969.
Fair condition, currently the speakers do not work.
