An interesting group of signatures, most signed on FDC envelopes from the 1964 First Day of Issue of the John F. Kennedy memorial stamp issued following his assassination in Dallas, Texas.

This lot includes several signatures of family as well. FDC signed envelopes include Senators J. William Fulbright, Eugene McCarthy, Daniel Inouye, George Smathers, Ken Keating (2-includes signed 3 X 5), Walter Heller (Chairman of President’s Council of Economic Advisors), and from Texas the signatures of Governor John Connally, Senator Ralph Yarborough and Judge Byron Skelton.

There are several items signed by JFK’s second cousin Mary Kennedy Ryan including two 6 X 4 pictures of her with Kennedy that are postmarked with the JFK memorial stamp, a 3.5 X 6 handwritten holiday greeting signed by May Kennedy Ryan dated “22-11-68” and another unrelated envelope signed, inscribed and dated by her with the same date.

Another FDC envelope picturing First Lady Jackie Kennedy with their two children is signed by White House Nanny who cared for John and Caroline, “Best Wishes Maud Shaw,” accompanied by her handwritten note on a 3 X 5. Of special interest is a FDC envelope signed by Eamon de Valera, the President of Ireland who hosted a visit by John F. Kennedy there. Of final note, the lot includes a handsome facsimile signed 8 X 10 photograph of John F. Kennedy.
