Queen front man Freddie Mercury's stage purple, short-sleeved mesh shirt, size medium (42). From the personal collection of renowned booking agent and promotional manager Irwin Pate. For over four decades Irwin Pate promoted talent all over the United States and internationally. During his career he and his wife Clarine obtained a large collection of personal clothing and articles belonging to numerous entertainers, including Freddie Mercury. Irwin knew Freddie and worked with him on a few occasions and promoted a few Queen concerts. During a meeting in Montreal Freddie gave Irwin some items from his collection that he no longer used, including this purple mesh shirt. When traveling on concert tours Irwin often would obtain items worn by the artists from tour crew members and venue staff. Overall good condition, with some wear as the shirt may have been worn by Freddie both on stage and off-stage. These pieces have been in the possession of the Pates up to the time of this auction. Irwin Pate passed away in May of 2018, and the shirt comes with a letter of provenance from his wife Clarine Pate on Pate Booking Agency letterhead). Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
