Exceptional handwritten signed letter from revered intellectual Ralph Waldo Emerson dated from Concord (Massachusetts), Dec 7 1855. Taking up all four sides of 7 X 8.5 stationery, Emerson writes of his busy schedule in reply to a program planned for him to attend. Considered the leader of the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th Century; his essays, lectures and poems influenced the thinkers, writers and poets that followed him. It is reported that great German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche thought Emerson was “the most gifted of the American” and who Walt Whitman called his ”master.” Very good condition.
