Financier and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller Jr. signed typewritten letter made on the stationery from his summer home, “The Eyrie Seal Harbor, Maine,” dated July 31, 1948 to Evangeline Booth (addressed “My Dear General Booth”) the active fourth General of the Salvation Army and the daughter of its’ founder William Booth. In his poignant letter, Rockefeller expresses his gratitude for Booth’s message of sympathy upon the passing of his wife, expressing “…I am not allowing myself to dwell on my own sorrow and loneliness but that I am rather daily giving thanks to God for the long, happy years Mrs. Rockefeller and I have had together, for the children and grandchildren, who are such a tower of strength at this time…” Signed in black fountain pen beneath the salutation, “With deep gratitude, I am, Very sincerely,” Excellent condition. 6.25 X 8. Comes with a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
