After five years in Europe, the troubled jazz trumpeter was deported after another arrest arising from his habitual heroin usage. He arrived back in the states four months before his Newport appearance. A primary exponent of the west coast school of cool jazz in the 1950's, Baker was in stellar company with the likes of Monk, Basie, Getz, Gillespie, Armstrong, Evans and Vaughan among the many acts on hand for the four-day festival in July '64. The 14" x 22" cardboard poster is EX. with minor wear to two corners. Estimate $500-$800.
