1955 New York Yankees home pinstripe flannel jersey worn by southpaw Ed Lopat, five-time World Champion while pitching with the Yankees (1948-1955). The jersey appears to have had secondary use in the minors as was often the case with Yankee jerseys from this period as the number “62” appears sewn on back. Lopat donned the uniform number “30” throughout his Yankee career which appears chain stitched in the lower left front tail alongside the year number “55” beneath his name. The interior left tail is tagged with washing instructions and a flag tag “Set 1 1955.” The “Spalding” manufacturers tag and size tag “44” are sewn on the inside collar. The Yankees classic interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the left front chest appears to be original to the garment. This classic pinstripe jersey from the pitcher nicknamed “The Junk Man,” and “Steady Eddie,” for his success on the mound exhibits strong signs of game wear. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
