This document was written and signed by the 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln. The document is dated January 5th, 1864, meaning it was written while he was serving as the President and during the height of the Civil War. Lincoln is one of the most well-respected and enduring Presidents in American history as he led the United States to victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War and engineered the end of slavery in the country. Shortly after winning the war and successfully running his own re-election campaign, Lincoln was assassinated while viewing a play at the Ford Theatre in Washington, D.C. Fair condition. Measures approximately 4.25” x 4.5”. This lot comes from the extensive personal collection of a life-long collector of Historical, Entertainment and Sports artifacts and memorabilia. The collector has amassed a virtually unmatched collection that is one of the largest we have ever seen. This lot comes with a letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) as well as a letter from Gotta Have Rock and Roll.com stating that it was sold in the Gotta Have History Winter Auction, February 16-25, 2022.
