A prolific rapper who started his career as one of the original members of Leaders of the New School, Busta Rhymes had his breakout performance as a guest with A Tribe Called Quest before releasing his debut solo album The Coming in 1996 to critical acclaim. The Coming went platinum, reached no. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, and the single, "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check" earned Busta Rhymes his first Grammy nomination.
The current lot, a concert poster for Rhymes' first show promoting The Coming in Providence, Rhode Island, appears simple in comparison to the powerful effect Rhymes would have on the world of Hip Hop and the music industry as a whole, most noticeably after the debut of The Coming and his subsequent nine studio albums. He would go on to release and produce some of the most powerful and visually arresting music and videos in the 1990s, such as Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See and Gimme Some More, a fixture to the MTV generation who achieved success on the global stage and continues to inspire generations of artists.
