This Elvis Presley worn blue velvet blazer was custom made by Sy Devore for his MGM film “It Happened at the World’s Fair.” The velvet blazer has a black right chest pocket label reading" SY DEVORE HOLLYWOOD LAS VEGAS PALM SPRINGS.” Inside the right chest pocket is a white label reading "SY DEVORE HOLLYWOOD LAS VEGAS PALM SPRINGS" with "Elvis Presley" typed on the name line. On the Date line is typed "8-31-62" and on the NO. line is typed "#8985" with the white label stamped 'M-G-M." The accompanying gray continental pants with side tab buttons to adjust the waist also bear a white label reading, "SY DEVORE HOLLYWOOD LAS VEGAS PALM SPRINGS." The label reads "Elvis Presley," Date “9-2-62" and NO. "8986." This white label also bears an "M-G-M" stamp. The time period in which this outfit was created for and worn by Elvis was when he reported to wardrobe fittings at MGM for the film. The outfit does not appear in the final cut of the film but there are various photographs of Elvis wearing the jacket that accompany this lot as he wore this jacket and pants as part of his personal wardrobe. Very good condition. Comes with letter of provenance.
