Although this shirt does not appear in any of the film’s scenes, it is a firm possibility that Elvis wore this shirt for the filming of his 1957 “Jailhouse Rock.” The red and black horizontal metallic striped short-sleeved shirt bears a label reading “Sportop” with an additional “Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer” label with “Elvis Presley” handwritten in black ink and the production number, “1719”, of the film also written on the label. Purchased at the David Weisz/MGM auction in 1970. Excellent condition. Estimate: $2,000 - $3,000.
