This is a rare Grateful Dead yarmulke worn during the occasion of a Passover seder held backstage during their performance at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, NY.

Despite the Dead’s large Jewish following, this LITTLE-KNOWN ritual hosted by them on several of their spring tours in New York was only attended by a very small, select group of their followers and several crew members.

The mystery of the occasion exists because the band’s drummer Mickey Hart was the only Jewish member of the band yet he was reported to have only attended the seder for a few minutes while leader Jerry Garcia would attend the entire affair wearing this very same purple suede yarmulke stamped in gold with the Dead’s signature “Steal Your Face” logo.

A coveted artifact among Dead fans of all religious persuasion

Authentication: A Letter of Authenticity and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
